Headlines

Reigning Champions Reign in Short: All three reigning champions now lead after the short program/dance as last night Jeremy Abbott skated to the top score in the men’s event.

Championship Saturday: Live on NBC for six hours today, from 3-6 and 8-11 p.m. ET, three championships in the senior events will be awarded.

Strive for Five: Meryl Davis and Charlie White look to climb to the top of the sport as they maintain a sizable lead in the dance event. With a win, the duo will have five straight titles and tie themselves for the most U.S. ice dancing titles in American history.

At Long Last?: The pairs team of Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir have admittedly been through a lot together. With a sizable lead in the pairs event, the duo may rise to the top and claim their first title.

Senior ice dancing short dance : 3:00 p.m.

Senior men’s short program: 8:30 p.m.

Juvenile pattern dance: 10:15 a.m.
Intermediate ladies short program: 1:00 p.m.
Intermediate men’s short program: 2:30 p.m.
Juvenile pairs free skate: 4:00 p.m.
Intermediate pairs free skate: 5:45 p.m.
Intermediate pattern dance: 7:40 p.m.

Headlines

Wagner Begins Defense – Ashley Wagner skated 19th of 20 and delivered a rock solid performance en route to the lead after the short program and half of her title defense is complete.

Zawadzki and Nagasu Loom – Agnes Zawadzki fell on her double Axel on what otherwise was a flawless performance and is in second while Mirai Nagasu landed a triple-triple en route to a third place score. Both Zawadzki and Nagasu are in position to claim gold if the defending champ falters.

Over the Moon – Marissa Castelli flew high on her twists and throw during the short program and, along with Simon Shnapir, they lead by a wide margin after the short program.

Chasing History – Meryl Davis and Charlie White will go after their fifth straight U.S. championship in the short dance today while Jeremy Abbott looks to claim his fourth title, and defend his gold from 2012 as the men’s event kicks off tonight.

Senior ladies short program: 8:30 p.m.

Headlines

Back-toBack Champs: Junior ice dancers Alexandra Aldridge and Daniel Eaton defended their 2012 title last night to become two-time defending U.S. junior ice dancing titlists.

Victory At Last: After finishing in second last year, Britney Simpson and Matthew Blackmer earned their first U.S. title together in junior pairs.

Remember The Name: Polina Edmunds, 6th and 7th, respectively, the last two years in this event, rose to the top of the podium as she won both the short program and free skate as junior ladies champion.

Senior Athletes Compete: Beginning at 5 p.m. the senior events kick off with the pairs short program. Reigning champions Caydee Denney and John Coughlin will not compete due to injury so the field is wide open for a new champ. In the ladies event, which begins at 8:30 p.m., Ashley Wagner will look to be the first American to defend her title since Michelle Kwan.

Headlines

Vin Is In – Vincent Zhou nailed his free skate last night and scored above 205 points to claim his third title, over three levels, in three years. Reigning champion Nathan Chen, who was battling illness earned the bronze medal and snapped his winning streak and Shotaro Omori captured silver.

The Lines Have Been Drawn – Later today the other three junior disciplines will come to a close, but the favorites have emerged after the short programs and short dance. Reigning champs Aldridge and Eaton lead in dance, upstart Aaron and Settlage in pairs and riding the momentum of her season so far, Polina Edmunds in ladies.

Full House – The senior athletes have arrived and by mid-day today, they will all have had their first official practice.

Today’s Headlines

First Titles Handed Out – Yesterday, all of the novice disciplines came to and end and we handed out the first four gold medals of the event. Congratulations to Tyler Pierce, Tomoki Hiwatashi, Chloe Lewis and Logan Bye and Christina Zaitsev and Ernie Utah Stevens!

Senior Athletes Arrive – By the end of the day, most all of the senior level athletes will be in Omaha and the ladies and pairs will each have their first official practices today.

Junior Couples Compete – Today marks the opening of both the junior pairs and dance events. Reigning champions Alexandra Aldridge and Daniel Eaton are back to defend their title in dance, while we’ll crown a new champion in pairs.

Shot at Gold – Shotaro Omori leads favorites and past champions Vincent Zhou and Nathan Chen after a masterful performance in the short program. Tonight, the exciting conclusion will see one rise to the top.
