Rudy Galindo, Lori Nichol Named to U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame

U.S. Figure Skating announced today that Rudy Galindo and Lori Nichol have been elected to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame Class of 2013. Here at SKATING magazine Blog, we’d like to congratulate both Rudy and Lori on their fantastic careers.

Galindo won three U.S. titles, two in pairs with Kristi Yamaguchi and one in men’s. Last year, the U.S. Championships were held in San Jose, site of the 1996 U.S. Championships and Galindo’s famous victory in his hometown. Nichol is one of the most sought-after choreographers in the world. In 1995, the Canadian created Michelle Kwan’s iconic “Salome” program, which debuted a new look and sophistication for the 15-year-old. Nichol worked with Kwan, the most-decorated figure skater in U.S. history, until early 2001.

Nichol, 49, is renowned for crafting artistic and technically difficult programs. She choreographed 2010 Olympic champion Evan Lysacek’s programs, being mindful to maximize the American’s scoring potential. Nichol’s choreography credits include eight Olympic medals and 30 World medals.
